Rare ANTIQUE 18ct Gold, Diamond & Hand Painted Portrait Miniature Pendant - Larard Brothers/Ada Whiting

A stunning and rare Australian made 18ct gold an diamond pendant. The pendant is bordered by diamonds all the way around the frame, the bail and even one in the safety chain.

The pendant was made by Larard Brothers of Melbourne who were based in Collins Street at the start of the twentieth century. The portrait miniature is painted stylistically very similar to Ada Whitings works. At the time the frame was made, she was working around the corner in Little Collins Street. Even though there is no visible signature on the potrait, it is likely by Ada Whiting, given the style of painting, and proximity to Larard Brothers at the time.
